Get Ready: 2021 University of Rochester Open Enrollment
September 30th, 2020 | Network NewsOpen enrollment for the 2021 University of Rochester benefit plan will be announced soon, and AHP practices should be prepared for UR employees to call and ask about your network participation. With AHP serving as the plan’s tier one network, 30,000 UR employees and their families will pay lower copays and/or deductibles when they keep their care in the AHP network. In addition to belonging to AHP, practices can help their UR employee patients get the most out of their benefit plan by sending them to other AHP providers for specialty consults, labs, and imaging.
One major change to the plan has been announced: Effective January 1, 2021, Excellus BlueCross BlueShield will be the sole administrator of the University of Rochester health care plans, and Aetna will no longer be offered as a third-party administrator (TPA) option. Currently, 80 percent of UR health plan members use Excellus as their TPA, so disruption caused by the change should be minimal. Practice stakeholders will have the opportunity to learn more about the 2021 UR benefit plan as well as the other AHP-contracted plans for Thompson Health and Highland Hospital at the December 1st AHP Practice Managers meeting.
