New Online Tool Gives Patients Price Estimates for Hospital Services

January 29th, 2021 | Network News

New price transparency rules require hospitals across the country to provide price information for at least 300 “shoppable services” starting January 1, 2021, in a consumer-friendly and searchable format on their websites.

Strong and Highland hospitals have provided cost estimates to patients and families for many years via phone and email. To comply with this new regulation, Strong, Highland and FF Thompson hospitals will offer an online price estimate tool that can be found on the MyChart website, with no login required.

To use the tool, consumers simply plug in a CPT code or browse the directory. Patients then enter their insurance benefit information and select a hospital location. The tool provides a price estimate for services received while in the hospital. Consumers can print or email themselves a summary of the estimate, right from the tool.
