Shipping Again – Magellan Lead Care II Test Kits
March 31st, 2022 | Network NewsMagellan has resumed manufacturing and shipping of its Lead Care II test kits. Although shipping has resumed, there is a significant backlog. Until Magellan can work through back orders, shipments are delayed, and orders are being processed on an allocation basis.
In 2021, Magellan recalled its LeadCare II test kits after finding that they may return significant false low results that could negatively impact care. The removal of this product from the marketplace significantly impacted the work of providers in our network, and we are pleased with this update. The full press release can be viewed here.
As a reminder, because of the significant disruption this recall caused, quality performance for the lead screening measure will be based on 2020 or 2021 practice performance, whichever is higher. Additionally, lead screening is not a priority measure on the 2022 AHP Quality Grid. You can view all of the priority measures for 2022 here.
