AHP/Medline/Provista Program is the Real Deal!

AHP/Medline/Provista Program is the Real Deal!

June 30th, 2021 | Archive

Launched in February, AHP’s new program with Medline and Provista offers private practices the same favorable pricing on medical and other supplies that UR Medicine receives with its considerable purchasing power.  According to recent cost analysis studies, practices who make the switch to Medline will save 28% on average on their annual costs for PPE and other medical supplies.  Several practices have already contracted with these new partners and are experiencing the benefits of lower prices and better access to the supplies they need most.

However, there is some misinformation about this program circulating, so the FAQs below were developed to answer the most common questions:

How can my private practice get the same favorable pricing as UR Medicine?  Is that even allowed?

As an AHP-participating practice, you can access the same pricing tiers as UR Medicine because AHP is an affiliate of UR Medicine.  The program has been thoroughly vetted by all parties to ensure compliance with all applicable regs.

Sounds too good to be true. How can Medline/Provista sustain that pricing?  If I move my business, will the prices just inch their way back up?

Nope, that is not going to happen: the pricing extended to private practices will remain in line with UR Medicine pricing for the life of this arrangement.  The Purchasing and Supply Chain team at UR Medicine is our partner for the management of this contract to ensure that the AHP side of the contract maintains the same pricing enjoyed by UR Medicine. So you won’t need to check your invoices every month to see if prices are creeping up: a supply chain professional is staying on top of that for the entire network!

I really like my current rep, so can I continue to do business with him/her?

Yes! This is not an exclusive arrangement, so practices can choose to move to Medline for a limited number of items and work with another vendor for the balance.

Why is AHP promoting this program?

After seeing the effect of pandemic-disrupted supply chains on private practices, we began to contemplate how we could tap into UR Medicine’s supply chain in a way that would offer significant cost savings and better supply/equipment availability for community providers.  The only benefit to AHP is the opportunity to contribute further to your practice’s financial well-being!
