Final 2020 Gain Sharing Distribution
July 29th, 2021 | Network NewsAHP’s 2020 value-based contract performance has resulted in unprecedented gainsharing, due in part to the impact of the COVID pandemic in drastically reducing our medical spend, but also optimized by the outstanding quality performance of network PCPs. In December 2020, after our payer partners agreed to advance us a portion of those shared savings, AHP advanced to its network partners an initial gainsharing installment.
The final installment of gainsharing due to practices is underway now. Most primary care practices received their payments electronically earlier this week. As approved by the Board of Managers, the payment for PCPs participating in all 2020 contracts includes base, attribution and quality components.

This is the seventh consecutive year that AHP has earned gainsharing. However, the 2020 gainshare was derived from drastic decreases in patient volumes that caused significant financial stress on many practices. We hope that both the advance paid in December and this remaining distribution will serve to mitigate some of the pandemic’s impact on practices.
