February is Black History Month! Each year, the Association for the Study of African American Life and History (ASALH) establishes a theme for Black History Month. The theme for this year is “African Americans and the Arts,” highlighting how African American artists utilize art to preserve history, community, and memories and empower individuals. AHP is committed to equity, diversity, and inclusion (EDI) efforts and encourages network members to participate in EDI activities in their communities.
Accountable Health Partners: AHP’s Equity Council has created a resource guide for individuals who wish to participate in Black History Month activities. The guide highlights live and asynchronous events and activities.
University of Rochester: The University of Rochester Community hosts several events, including art exhibits and musical performances, during February to celebrate Black History Month 2024. View the Black History Month Calendar.
Aligned with this year’s theme, “African Americans and the Arts,” check out the Black History Month Showcase, a recital in which the goal is to promote music by black composers and showcase the black students at Eastman.
The City of Rochester: In honor of Black History Month each year, the City’s Black Heritage Committee hosts several events to celebrate our nation’s Black heritage. View the Calendar of Events.
