Behavioral Health Updates and Resource Sharing

This includes a key change to clozapine prescribing guidelines, the availability of the URMC Crisis Call Line for immediate support, and new virtual mental health urgent care options. These updates aim to enhance access to care, improve the support available to both patients and providers, and ensure that individuals in need of mental health services receive timely and appropriate assistance. Clozapine Prescribing Update
As of February 24, the FDA has eliminated the Clozapine Risk Evaluation and Mitigation Strategy (REMS) program. This means any provider with a DEA license can now prescribe clozapine without REMS registration.
Please note: ANC blood monitoring requirements remain unchanged, but reporting to the national REMS registry is no longer required.
URMC Crisis Call Line
The URMC Crisis Call Line (585-275-8686) is a 24/7 phone support service staffed by licensed mental health professionals. It is available to patients, families, and providers at no cost.
Services offered through the line include telephonic support, virtual urgent care, mobile crisis response, and pediatric and adult escalation pathways.
Virtual Mental Health Urgent Care
Available Monday–Friday, 12 PM – 7 PM, this video-based mental health support service is provided by licensed clinicians and is accessible via MyChart or by calling 585-275-8686.
It is billable to insurance, subject to copays and deductibles.
