NCQA Opens Comment Period for Changes to Colorectal Cancer Screening HEDIS Measure
September 30th, 2021 | ArchiveEvery year, The National Committee for Quality Assurance (NCQA) seeks public comment about proposed changes to HEDIS measures, providing an important opportunity for healthcare stakeholders to weigh in on the relevance, scientific soundness and feasibility of measures for HEDIS.
NCQA is currently inviting comment on proposed changes to the Colorectal Cancer Screening measure. The measure currently assesses the percentage of members 50-75 years of age who had appropriate screening for colorectal cancer. Among other changes, NCQA is proposing the addition of members ages 45 to 49, bringing the measure in alignment with updated guidelines from the U.S. Preventive Services Task Force. The public comment period opens on September 30th, and reviewers are asked to submit comments by Thursday, October 21st. NCQA reviews all comments received during public comment and presents results to multi-stakeholder advisory panels and to the NCQA Committee on Performance Measurement for deliberation.
