Next Steps for the LARC Initiative
January 31st, 2023 | Quality•NewsIn the Fall/Winter of 2022, AHP, in collaboration with Rachael Phelps, MD, family planning expert and physician, Planned Parenthood of Central and Western New York, hosted two sessions of the 75-minute lecture and Q&A, “Increasing Access to LARC for Your Adolescent and Adult Patients Through Evidence-Based Counseling and Practices.” The session provided up-to-date information on evidence-based, patient-centered reproductive health counseling, available resources, and strategies for removing barriers to contraception access with a focus on long-acting reversible contraception (LARC).
As a follow-up to those didactic training sessions and to assist providers who have inquired about hands-on training, AHP is coordinating with a Nexplanon® trainer to identify Spring 2023 training dates. Please contact Kevin Kelley if you are interested in attending a Nexplanon® placement training session.
Attendance at one of the 2022 lectures satisfies the LARC component of the 2023 AHP PCP Reward Plan for eligible providers. Additional opportunities to satisfy the LARC component for 2023 will be offered.
