This edition of Pharmacy Pearls reviews the benefits of utilizing generic statins for treatment of hyperlipidemia, as certain brand-name statins can reach almost $900 per month. Generic statins have an abundance of safety and efficacy data to support their use, and some can be utilized on alternate dosing schedules for patients who have tolerance issues. In addition, the Pharmacy Team reviews fibrates as a treatment class and when they are or are not clinically indicated.
