In this edition of Pharmacy Pearls, we have updated our inhaler chart to include a new generic ICS/LABA that has come to market. Budesonide/formoterol, an authorized generic of Symbicort, is now available for prescribers to order. At this time, it does not represent a significant cost savings for the network compared to other available generic ICS/LABA inhalers, and insurance coverage can vary widely. However, it remains an option for cash-paying patients or those with high deductible plans struggling to afford their brand Symbicort.
