SPRINT Update and Performance Improvement Continuation
June 7th, 2018 | ArchiveWith the launch of the SPRINT performance enhancement opportunity, centered largely around increasing access for well care visits within our Medicaid population, we have seen excellent work being carried out across the network and heard terrific feedback about how useful this approach has been for their practices. We have until June 30, 2018 to close as many of the gaps for the SPRINT program, so please continue the great work you have already begun!
Given the success of this venture, and given that we have identified additional performance optimization opportunities within our AHP Medicaid contracts, we have decided to launch our own initiative to begin July 1st, at the conclusion of the SPRINT effort. We have identified several performance improvement opportunities around Well Child Visits (3-6 years old), Breast Cancer Screening and Colorectal Cancer Screening. Our plan will be to send each practice a new list of gaps in regards to these metrics. Unlike the SPRINT metrics where there was incentive from FLPPS, we are already metrics as a component of our gainshare; while there is no additional direct incentive paid for closing these gaps, there is potentially much more at stake financially that can be earned by closing these gaps. As many may recall we either lost money or had no earned gainshare in 2017 on our Medicaid contracts, so this is an opportunity to change that trend for 2018. We have other initiatives we will be launching to assist practices in this important work, and our AHP Optimization Team is already hard at work devising strategies to improve our performance with these key metrics.
We hope this new effort will improve the care of some of our most vulnerable populations and refine our strategies at targeted gap closure in under-performing metrics. We hope you will continue to find these efforts to be an enhancement to the ongoing work in your practices and a means to directly improve performance across the AHP network for the benefit of our patients and the financial performance of our members. We anticipate distributing these new lists in early July and will send out new instructions and information with those lists, so stay tuned!
