July 29th, 2022 | QualityNews

New York State has mandated that birthing hospitals screen certain newborn populations for G6PD deficiency effective June 22, 2022. Newborn providers and pediatric hematologists at Golisano Children’s Hospital are sharing the message, which includes linked resources and a follow-up algorithm below to help guide providers across the region with the screening criteria as well as the necessary follow-up that may be needed once the test results return. Additionally, NYSDOH created a G6PD Deficiency Fact Sheet for Families that can be viewed here.
