Finger Lakes-WNY Return to Play Guidelines Reviewed 9/30/2022

October 13th, 2022 | COVID Return to SchoolCOVID-19Covid Pediatrics

The Finger Lakes/WNY COVID Pediatric Return to Play Workgroup recently convened to review the 9/9/2022 revisions to the Return to Sports and Physical Activity after COVID-19 Infection Interim Guidelines issued by the American Academy of Pediatrics. As those revisions were minimal, the Workgroup recommends that providers and families continue to utilize the current Finger Lakes-Western New York (FL-WNY) Return to Play Algorithm and associated Return to Play Self Assessment Form (see below for both) to determine which youth/students/athletes need to undergo further evaluation with his/her/their primary care provider. If “No” is answered to all of the questions, PCP evaluation is not needed and the youth/student/athlete may return to sports/physical activity as per the guidelines noted in Box A of the algorithm.
