Community Initiative Webinar: Cephalosporin Use in Penicillin-Allergic Individuals
March 31st, 2023 | Network NewsThe Highland Hospital Department of Pharmacy is hosting a Grand Rounds session on Wednesday, April 5, from 12 pm to 1 pm titled “Crossing Out Penicillin and Cephalosporin Cross-Reactivity.” The session, presented by William DePasquale, PharmD, is meant to highlight a community-wide initiative that encourages the use of cephalosporins as first-line therapy in people with penicillin allergies. This represents a change from longstanding practice to avoid the use of cephalosporins in these individuals. Attendees will learn about the clinical impact of unnecessarily avoiding cephalosporins and gain an understanding of cephalosporin’s safety, risks, and benefits.
