AHP’s Adopting Community-Wide Clinical Guidelines

AHP’s Adopting Community-Wide Clinical Guidelines

April 28th, 2016 | Network News

The Monroe County Medical Society’s (MCMS) Quality Collaborative was formed to promote high quality health care and provide physicians with information, education, and tools to help them deliver evidence-based care across the region. Several AHP physicians, including AHP’s Medical Director Dr. Bisognano, are members of the Quality Collaborative, and have contributed to the development of 18 community-wide clinical guidelines. The guidelines were designed to enhance the quality of preventive and chronic care, and are aligned with AHP’s vision to consistently deliver high quality care across its expansive network. To that end, members of AHP’s physician advisory committees have agreed to review MCMS’ clinical guidelines and make recommendations for committee endorsements, and network-wide adoption.

Low Back Pain (Low – Acute/Subacute) was the first guideline reviewed and unanimously endorsed by the PCP, Specialist, and Quality Care committees in early 2016. Guidelines that are under current review are Coronary Artery Disease and Heart Failure, both of which are in the final stages of endorsement. Links to all of the endorsed MCMS Community-wide Guidelines will be posted on AHP’s website for easy access, and included in upcoming editions of Dr. Bisognano’s Clinical Connections newsletter.

Inquiries about the endorsement of the MCMS Community-wide Guidelines may be directed to Medical Director John Bisognano MD, PhD at [email protected].
