Introducing AHP’s Lactation Care Management Program
March 31st, 2023 | Quality•NewsWe are happy to announce the expansion of the AHP/Care Management Organization (CMO) with the addition of Lactation Care Management (LCM). With the support from URMC’s Health Equity Program Support Office (HEPSO), Catherine (Katie) Wightman, Program Director of Lactation Care Management, will lead the expansion and extension of a community-responsive Lactation CM program into the Allegany County region supporting births at Jones Memorial Hospital.
Katie Wightman, MS, IBCLC – Program Director, Lactation Care Management
Katie joins us after partnering with AHP over the last four years on a very successful Lactation Care Management (LCM) program in the Dansville area in partnership with new parents and infants delivered at Noyes Hospital and surrounding counties. As a successful business owner and practitioner, Katie brings fourteen years of experience in special education and literacy regarding Birth and eight years of experience as an Internationally Board Certified Lactation Consultant. Katie is dedicated to expanding access to breast/chest feeding and human milk consumption in the Finger Lakes and Southern Region.
Paige Lounsberry, IBCLC – Lactation Care Manager
Paige comes to AHP with the highest level of lactation certification- International Board Certified Lactation Consultant. Paige brings several years of experience, having provided lactation support through WIC in Allegany County for over four years and working for ACCORD, a community action agency focused on improving community response to rural poverty and advocacy as well as empowerment of underserved people. As a member of the Allegany County community, Paige is familiar with the nuances of healthcare engagement in rural Western NY, its culture, and the challenges of improving access to services despite geographic and economic barriers. Paige’s expertise and experience will be assets to build the LCM Program for individuals served by the Birthing Center at Jones Memorial.
