In this edition of Pharmacy Pearls, you will find a review of the indications for the SGLT-2 inhibitors. This class of medications initially marketed for type 2 diabetes, has now extended evidence into the areas of heart failure and chronic kidney disease, and well-documented glucose and BP-lowering effects. In addition, there is a potential cost-saving opportunity for patients who are on both an SGLT-2 inhibitor and a DPP-4 inhibitor.
