March is Women’s History Month: Women’s History Month originated in 1981 when Congress passed a law authorizing the President to proclaim the week beginning March 7, 1982, as “Women’s History Week.” This recognition expanded over the next few years, with Congress designating a week in March as such until 1987. In response to a petition by the National Women’s History Project, Congress passed a law in 1987 designating the entire month of March as “Women’s History Month.” Since then, presidents have annually proclaimed March as such, celebrating women’s contributions and achievements throughout American history across various fields.

In 2024, we acknowledge the exemplary efforts of women who champion inclusivity and unity in our pursuit of freedom and opportunity. These women advocate for an environment where all voices are heard and respected, fostering a culture of openness and acceptance essential for personal growth and societal progress.
