AHP is pleased to announce that Angelique Cohen, MD, MBA, FACS, will join the AHP team as our Executive Medical Director on October 1, 2023. With an impressive background and a wealth of experience, Dr. Cohen’s arrival marks a significant milestone for the AHP network. Her proven track record of developing and implementing impactful clinical initiatives related to value-based care delivery will provide AHP with expert clinical leadership as we continue to pursue our shared goals of high-quality care and lower costs. In addition to her role at AHP, Dr. Cohen will work as a Medical Director in the Quality Institute at UR Medicine, working with Dr. Michael Apostolakos, Chief Medical Officer of UR Medicine Strong Memorial and Highland Hospital. In this role, Angelique will work closely with stakeholders to improve key performance metrics, including readmissions and mortality. She will also work closely with Quality Institute leadership to enhance coordination and efficient care delivery throughout the patient care experience.

Dr. Cohen joins AHP from Ascension St. Thomas in Nashville, TN. As Director of Clinical Transformation, Dr. Cohen led multi-disciplinary teams responsible for projects including readmission reduction and elimination of unwarranted variations of care. She trained as an ENT surgeon at the University of Illinois at Chicago Eye and Ear Infirmary and then founded a practice of Otolaryngology where she provided general ENT services and specialized in thyroid surgery. During this time, Dr. Cohen completed her MBA at Lake Forest Graduate School of Business in Illinois and applied her business acumen to the operation of her clinical practice. She enjoyed this so much that when the opportunity to affect quality and costs at a healthcare system arose, she joined Ascension and focused all of her efforts on improving the patient experience.

Dr. Chad Teeters, who has served as the Executive Medical Director of AHP since 2017, will remain at AHP as a medical director as he continues to serve as President/CEO of UR Noyes Health in Dansville, NY. The clinical leadership and energy Dr. Teeters brought to his role as Executive Medical Director were critical in helping our network navigate the COVID-19 pandemic and continue pursuing clinical initiatives that improved patient care. We are grateful for Dr. Teeters’ clinical expertise and leadership over the last six years and look forward to working with him in this new capacity for years to come!
